Animal Therapy
Clients of EmbodiedSelf may opt-in to receive Animal Therapy as part of their treatment.
Client's report a 50% reduction in symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and trauma in sessions when a dog is present (National Institute of Health, 2024). Our therapy dogs are available to join sessions to support you in co-regulation, symptom reduction, and emotional support upon request.
Our EmbodiedSelf pups are trained to:
-
Support the client in reducing depression and anxiety through physical touch, nestling, and bringing warmth to a session.
-
Place pressure on one's lap, arm, or legs when a client's central nervous system is more activated. This is done to support the client in trauma trigger reductions and emotional regulation, similar to a weighted blanket.
-
Create play and fun energy within the room when appropriate (such as inner child repair).
